So you want to kick start your career as a digital marketer?
Well you’re in the right place at the right time my friend. In todays fast growing marketing industry, there’s a huge demand for new talent like YOU. In this blog I’ll be covering the burning questions you may have that’s stopping you from taking this opportunity and finally joining us in the crazy world of digital marketing. Ok enough waffling let’s get started!
What Is Digital Marketing?
Say you’re scrolling through Instagram and suddenly you see an interesting ad on your feed, ‘Join Multiverse‘ this is no coincidence. Marketing specialists are individuals who acknowledge your needs and wants and aim to provide you will service or product that will meet those interests through promotional messaging and follow you through your customer journey to measure the impacts.
In practice, digital marketing typically refers to marketing campaigns that appear on a computer, phone, tablet, or other device. It can take many forms, including online video, display ads, search engine marketing, paid social ads and social media posts. Digital marketing is often compared to “traditional marketing” such as magazine ads, billboards, and direct mail. Oddly, television is usually lumped in with traditional marketing.

What Is PPC
Digital marketing is vast with many specialist areas to explore before diving straight in. In todays blog we will be covering PPC.
Pay per Click (AKA PPC)
PPC is essentially the process driving traffic to a website by paying for an Ad every time some clicks on it – they are the Ads you see at the top of the search engine results page (SERP). PPC is auction based, Ads are ranked by the algorithm to determine whether your ad is a match for the user query/search. The Ad rank is determined by the Ad quality, bid amount (how much you’re willing to pay per click), landing page quality and keyword relevancy.
PPC campaigns are fun to build but a lot of handwork goes into producing high quality Ads that impress search engine algorithms. Things to take under considerations when building a campaign are:
- Keyword selection
- Optimization
- Budgeting and reporting
- setting and meeting targets goal
- Landing pages
- Ad groups/ campaign management
- Extensions
- Forecast
- Building Ads
A lot goes into building a PPC campaign but all the dedication and efforts are rewarding when you are connecting people to a service/product that is right for them, and of course hitting those target are a bonus! 😉

Getting started can be hard and interviews can be draining after being rejected again and again. BUT don’t give up, I’m here to help give you an understanding of what employers look for in a a potential candidate.
Employers are in search for someone with a passion for tech, a desire to learn and continue pushing boundaries in order to meet client goals. Your qualifications to this stage will depend on the programme you choose, but the general entry requirements are:
- Qualification: Three to five GCSEs. You cannot already have a qualification in a similar subject at the same level, or a higher level than the apprenticeship you are applying for.
- Location: You must be eligible to live and work in the UK and have lived in the UK for 3 years.
- Age: Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged 16 or over. There is no upper age limit.
Networking /Career growth
So you made it and are looking for an opportunity to grow?
There’s plenty of opportunity to grow as a digital marketer, starting as an executive all the way to PPC director. You can even switch it up between between specialist areas. The marketing industry is very flexible and had a wide range of career roots you can take.
As for networking, the only limit is you. If you want to meet likeminded individuals you have to attend agency events, got to that team meal, or simply asking someone how they are. Understanding each individual is important to your success, learning through their experience will help you gain opportunities that otherwise would have been missed. Connections are important to build a strong team and business and through open communication this is possible.
Something to keep in mind in this fast paced industry, a business is nothing without its employees and customers.
Stop selling, start helping.
