Managing your apprenticeship along with your day-to-day work is no easy feat. We’ve pulled together our top 5 resources to help support you with every challenge that comes along the way, from time management to copywriting. Each of these tried and tested methods will help you to find success in your apprenticeship with these productivity tools and beyond.
1. Project management with Trello
Break your larger projects down into manageable tasks with Trello. Collaborate with your peers and go from idea to action in seconds with Trello’s Simple Boards, Lists & Cards. Already used globally by some of the top minds and businesses across the world you can really manage it all from one place.
2. A little helping hand with clarity and Grammar with Grammarly
A personal favourite of ours is Grammarly, an online plug-in that you can use to perfect your copywriting. The AI typing assistant will review your work and check for spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity and improvements to help you remove some guesswork.
Good copy is key to helping you find success in your apprenticeship. Working across Microsoft Office, Windows, Google Docs and Mac IOS, you’ll never have to worry about spelling mistakes ever again.
3. Give your brain time to breathe with the Pomodoro technique
If you’re feeling overwhelmed with your workload and lack the space for creativity, this is one for you. Perfect for larger projects like portfolios and building presentations the Pomodoro technique allows you to manage your time effectively while giving you a moment to break and reset. Breaks are essential not only to rest our brains and help us achieve our best work but also for our mental health.
The Pomodoro Technique is based on 25-minute stretches of focused work followed by five-minute breaks. Longer breaks, typically 15 to 30 minutes, are taken after four consecutive work intervals. There is a range of online tools to help you break up the time and follow this handy technique.
4. Get to know your peers with the Association of Apprentices
Times may get tough so it’s great to seek guidance from others in the same boat. The Association of Apprentices brings together Apprentices past and present from across the UK to build a support network
There are close to one million apprentices in the UK so support is out there. Meet people on the same or similar courses to you or get to know new people with different interests and guide each other on your new journey into education.
Attend in-person and online events, be a part of an online community and access their resource hub to further your development. Find success in your apprenticeship with like-minded people and gain connections for life.
5. Say goodbye to distractions with Freedom
We all have that one site or app that we end up on for five minutes and then we blink and an hour has passed. Remove all distractions and stay in the zone with Freedom. Gatekeep your apprenticeship time and don’t let emails become a distraction. Freedom allows you to create a custom block list so you can pick your poison and avoid the sites and desktop apps that distract you the most.
We love this app for focusing during tight deadlines.
