One of the most vital elements to promoting content, business’ and services in the 21st Century. And without a doubt, one of the most popular areas for apprenticeships. Digital Marketing. But why pursue an apprenticeship in this area?
A bit more about Digital Marketing
Digital Marketing, otherwise known as online marketing, is the promotion of brands to connect with potential customers on the internet across an array of different platforms. This includes platforms like Facebook and Instagram for Social media, as well as email and search engines.
There are also different types of Digital marketing including B2B and B2C. B2B (Business to Business) tend to have longer decision making processes, have transactions based on logic and evidence and decisions that tend to need more than 1 persons input. Whereas, B2C (Business to Client) is typically just the sale of a product or service to a customer.
Digital marketing is used in almost every business, small and large, as it is an excellent promotion tool. Digital Marketing can gives business’s a broad geographic reach, whilst also being very cost effective. Giving the brand a better way to connect with customers, easily, with lots of personalization. Digital Marketing creates growth.
But why an Apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships are paid jobs where the employee learns and gains valuable experiences along the way. That being said, apprentices spend at least 20% of their working hours completing classroom-based learning with a college, university or training provider eventually leading to a qualification.
Benefits for Apprenticeships include:
- Experience and Skills Development
- A Nationally Recognized Qualification (with no tuition fees!)
- Employee Benefits and a wage
- Exposure to industry professionals
- Joining an industry that is showing recent popularity in the 21st Century
Should I do an apprenticeship instead of university?
Going to university is a great way to achieve a high level degree, however, there are some downfalls. With an apprenticeship you are able to get a head start on uni students as you can work with large companies like Mediacom and Google, receiving a head start in the industry. As well as receiving a wage that you would’ve received in tuition fees.
So as an apprentice you can reach a high level in the company, and get ahead in your future!
So how can I get an apprenticeship?
Initially, you should make sure to do some research on the different types of Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, to make sure it’s right for you. Some factors coming into consideration being, areas of digital marketing, location, commute time and wage.
A provider I can recommend personally is Multiverse as it has a lot of apprenticeships available in a range of different areas.
Another provider, is using the gov.uk website as there are a lot of high level apprenticeships available with good wages and courses.
From One Apprentice to (Hopefully) Another
As an apprentice myself, and after being in this role for not even a year yet, I can not have imagined myself doing anything quite like it! I was in a position after leaving college where I thought university was the only option, and after going through the application process and being accepted to various courses, I was still very unenthusiastic about choosing this option.
Shortly after, I discovered digital marketing apprenticeship’s and that’s when I realized that it was a no brainer! The area of digital marketing had interested me previously before as I ran my own social media pages and promoting content on there. So having the opportunity to pursue this further, to get a qualification in this field, whilst also getting a wage, was perfect for me.
After starting my apprenticeship I was exposed to events and experiences I would never have expected. Not only this, I was able to join a network of other apprentices where we can share our experience together. Helping me to enjoy my time as an apprentice even more!
So that is why I would recommend a Digital Marketing apprenticeship to anyone currently in the same position I was.
