Top 3 Reasons YOU Should do an Apprenticeship
I get it… Figuring out what you want to do for a career is a difficult and daunting task. Despite our parents best efforts of guidance, many of us have no idea what we are going to have for breakfast tomorrow, let alone what career path we want to choose (well perhaps that’s just me). But, have you ever considered an apprenticeship for your career path?
Picture this… me, at 18 years old, sat at home munching on leftover spaghetti Bolognese whilst scrolling through endless job sites trying to find that one job that didn’t require 4 years of industry experience coming out of school (the absolute cheek of some employers). And that’s when I found it… This article telling me the top reasons why I should do an apprenticeship. And that’s what I wanted to share with you today. In 500 words or less, my top 3 reasons for why I think YOU should do an apprenticeship.
#1 Skills to Pay the Bills
Doing an apprenticeship has allowed me to add some pretty awesome skills to my arsenal. Doing so has intrinsically improved my CV and overall employability. From learning in a working environment (nothing like in school thank goodness) to getting hands on with practical experience, doing an apprenticeship has made me a stronger candidate when looking for more permanent employment.
#2 Money, Money, Money… Must be Funny
I know that money isn’t everything, but it sure as heck is nice to be paid whilst learning. Doing an apprenticeship gave me the opportunity to earn a salary whilst getting on the job training. As your experience grows so to will your wage.
#3 Get that Qualification
At the end of the day, why do an apprenticeship? Its because you want to get a professional qualification that makes you stand out from the crowd. And it does exactly what it says in the tin. My apprenticeship gave me nationally recognised professional qualification with hands on industry experience, that already sets me apart from the likes of graduates.
