Promoting Apprenticeships in the UK

The Exciting Road of Becoming an Apprentice

Becoming an apprentice was one of the best decisions I have ever made for my career. It was an opportunity that helped me gain new skills, learn from experts, and grow both personally and professionally.

Before I started my apprenticeship, I was in a job that didn’t challenge me or provide me with the opportunities I needed to grow, I was fresh out of sixth form and in a Digital Marketing job that not only prevented my growth but also put me off what I had wanted to do since year 10, Digital Marketing, it gave me a demotivating feeling towards work and my career.

I wanted to learn new skills and expand my knowledge. I was looking for a new challenge, and I found it through an apprenticeship (after ZERO help from my school!)

The application process and assessment day required me showing a passion and commitment to learning. But, the process was fun and exciting and taught me that work can be enjoyable, but also challenging at the same time.

If the above resonates with you, you need to consider an Apprenticeship as a career path it gives you the opportunity to gain practical skills while earning money at the same time (not that that’s the only point, but it’s a benefit!) Now you can finally buy that fancy coffee from the trendy café down the road or go to that event or festival on the weekend!

Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to kickstart your career and gain valuable skills that will help you succeed in the real world.

One of the best things about my apprenticeship is that I got to work alongside and be surrounded by experienced people. One thing I noticed is that I have learnt from their expertise, not only work related but personally as well. I have learnt how to act professional not only at a workplace but at work events.

Another reason to do an apprenticeship is that you get a head start in your career. Instead of spending years studying and then struggling to find a job after university you’ll already have the skills and experience that employers are looking for, or you can choose to stay on and work for the company which helped you to develop those skills and climb the ladder! Either way you have started your career at an advantage.

You’ll be able to hit the ground running and make a name for yourself in your chosen industry.

After 8 months in my apprenticeship, I have already developed my skills in time management, communication, problem-solving, and skills in digital marketing such as coding, SEO, social listening, Email marketing and many more, as well as marketing theory like the 7p’s! These skills have and will help me to succeed not only in my current role but also in future roles!

Plus, completing an apprenticeship looks great on your CV. Employers love to see that you’ve gained practical experience and a nationally recognized qualification. It shows that you’re serious about your career and that you’re willing to put in the hard work to succeed.

So, if you’re looking for a fun and exciting way to kickstart your career, then an apprenticeship could be just what you need. You’ll gain practical experience, earn money, learn from industry experts, develop transferable skills, and improve your employability!
