Promoting Apprenticeships in the UK

Apprenticeships: The Apprentices Journey

Through these posts, we aim to connect past/current apprentices with new ones and allow for a better understanding of what you may encounter through your experience.

The First of our Apprentices

To kick start our National Apprenticeship Week edition, first up is Joseph Acers – a current apprentice at Mindshare UK;

“I am currently 10 months into studying the Digital Marketing Level 3 qualification. In my apprenticeship, I have been fortunate enough to touch on many specialist areas, from radio and TV (AV) to social media marketing. Working within Mindshare I have been able to experience the ecstatic culture that comes with working in the media world – the buzz in the office in particular is very unique and catching thanks to the employees being at the heart of the agency. I would not have gained this perspective of an office from going to university. Furthermore, Mindshare pride themselves on an inclusive and diverse work force, but also on providing an industry leading work life balance, which I believe heavily in. This has given me a more in-depth idea of what I want from my future career and from my employer.

I have found many benefits to the apprenticeship approach of starting my career. To start with, you receive experience that is recognised by companies wherever you are, that you may not gain from taking a university route. Secondly, you will attain a qualification that helps build your knowledge in the marketing sector, without having to take on the financial cost that you would at uni. It also helps you to expand your network – I have met multiple clients, suppliers and colleagues all of which have allowed me to grow my connections in the industry. My apprenticeship provider, Multiverse, is one of the UK’s leading and have been supportive throughout my whole experience offering multiple hands on guidance and training sessions. I whole-heartedly recommend an apprenticeship and always suggest being yourself throughout the hiring process and when you begin your career to start your future the right way.”

I hope that this has provided you with a little more knowledge of what you may gain from a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship! Next month we will be taking a dive into the life of a Finance Apprentice.
