It can take some time to settle into a new role! With so much information and meeting new people, it’s natural to feel a little nervous and sometimes overwhelmed!
To start your apprenticeship off the right way, it can help to be prepared. From making a good first impression to knowing what will be expected of you in your day-to-day role, there are lots of things you can do to make the most of your new position.
We’ve put together a list of our top tips to help you find your feet and flourish as an apprentice!
Stay Organised
- Organise your time. Complete and hand in work before submission dates. It will save you a lot of stress in the long run. It will also show your assessor that you are organised and punctual.
Communicate
- Communicating is so important. Always update staff on your progress and make the most of your mentor. Remember that you’re part of a team and everyone is expected to support one another and get along, regardless of personal feelings or disagreements.
Be enthusiastic
- This is an amazing opportunity you have. Be willing to learn and take on new challenges. A positive approach to every task will get you noticed. And remember to take ownership of your work. It’s as a result of your hard work and time so own it!
Ask for help.
- Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Asking questions can sometimes feel scary and daunting, but being curious helps you learn and shows your new employers that you are engaged and interested in your new role!
