Keep reading because I have all the best tips for you!
As a Digital Marketing Apprentice (working in paid social media) I had the opportunity to join a small team, which means my workload is quite full. When I had free time, I would have learned more platform skills and industry knowledge and made my life way easier. Now, I am aware of what I would do differently, so you don’t have to make the same mistakes!
Understanding your role
What’s crucial to know to exceed in your role as an apprentice? As you are learning, this may be a basic understanding of your role. I will advise starting all the platform learning early. Excel is always a plus! Independently on which area of Digital Marketing you work with, you have a 99% chance of use Excel regularly.
For example, my life changed when I knew I have to focus on three areas:
- Campaign reports – requires Excel skills & performance insights.
- Create campaigns across multiples platforms – Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn, and Twitter Ads Manager knowledge.
- Systems regularly used on my team – Outlook, Microsoft Teams, etc.
It may seem tiny, but if you did not regularly used any of the above, you realised how much there is to learn! Moreover, this will make easier your portfolio documentation process.
Get your Project Management System Up and Running!
Notebook and physical agendas are something from the past. I love them but kept forgetting important information.
With plenty of options such as Notion, Asana and Monday (to name a few), using a digital tool for my apprenticeship and workload has been a game-changer. I find the search tools, virtual agenda and templates to be super helpful to manage both worlds. Moreover, it keeps an online record of your work activities to support you long-term projects.
