Applying for an apprenticeship can be quite daunting. You want to sell yourself. You’ll want to know when to apply for an apprenticeship and best practices when you do apply. You also want to come across as someone the employer wants to interview. It’s all about first impressions with your CV and applying for a job takes a lot of time. Below is a list of my top 3 points on how to apply for an apprenticeship.
- 1. Be specific to the apprenticeship role
- 2. Sell yourself in your CV
- 3. check, check, and check again!
1. Be specific to the apprenticeship role
Every apprenticeship application that you write should be unique and tailored to the role you are applying for. The experience and skills can vary from role to role so make sure you double check that your CV or question answers are relevant to the job that you are applying for.
2. Sell yourself in your CV
When writing your CV and application, remember to include all of your predicted grades and any other qualifications or grades that you hold. Be proud about what you’re going to or have achieved so far. Include any other certificates for qualifications such as Sports Leaders that you might have.
3. check, check, and check again!
Always check the closing date for the role you are applying for, ans make sure you give yourself enough time to submit everything you need to. Check your application is relevant to the job you are applying for. Ask someone to read your application to check for spelling and grammar mistakes. And lastly, remember to always save a copy of your application and double check everything!
