Promoting Apprenticeships in the UK

Why choose an apprenticeship?

I chose to do an apprenticeship as I always enjoyed working and wanted to gain a qualification whilst earning a salary and on the job experience.

I work at an advertising agency which company initiatives to help improve mental health and offers social perks such as free drinks on the rooftop bar! In addition, I knew that the vast amount of experience around me was going to be largely beneficial. I am a digital marketing apprentice, in an amazing company where I have tons of experience in my colleagues that I can learn from.

My role is to manage and develop the clients pay per click advertising campaigns, ensuring that they meet performance and revenue targets in line with the overall marketing plan and budget. I work on a variety of clients in different industries such as finance, ecommerce, health, building campaigns and helping them grow in terms of revenue and awareness to ultimately become more profitable businesses.

We have a large network of communication at my agency, thanks to MS Teams. We ask each other questions all day every day and we all chip in to help each other out through using our ever-growing experience that has been passed down by more senior members of the team.

I would recommend an apprenticeship because the huge amount of experience around me at work makes both my work and my studies so much easier. I know that if I have any questions about almost anything, there will be someone within the company that can provide an answer.. The experience of working while completing a qualification is great because it puts real life issues against theory.

Apprenticeships are far more common and respected today, and come in a variety of roles. I know that the barriers to climbing the career ladder, however an apprenticeship can give you the edge above those taking the typical university route due to the tailored experience and in depth knowledge gained.
