Am I Too Old For An Apprenticeship?

Am I too old for an Apprenticeship? This is a question often searched by potential applicants. There has been a long standing Stigma that Apprenticeships are an alternative to University and are designed only for School Leavers. However Apprenticeships aren’t just for teenagers, and age is no barrier!

Increasingly, a larger proportion of Apprenticeships are being undertaken by people over the age of 25: https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/sn06113/

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT FOR APPRENTICESHIPS?

No! Anyone aged 16 and over is eligible for an apprenticeship, including (but not limited to) school leavers, graduates, career changers, and people looking to improve and develop their skillset within their current job. There are opportunities for everyone, you should not view Age as a factor in choosing whether you want to take on an Apprenticeship.

CHANGING YOUR CAREER WITH AN APPRENTICESHIP

Apprenticeships are a fantastic option if you are thinking of retraining for a new career while earning a wage. You earn & learn while gaining all-important experience and contacts in your chosen industry.

Apprenticeships are a fantastic route into emerging industries. Data science, digital marketing, and software development are just a few industries where demand is high and specialists are in short supply. There are fantastic opportunities to get into a new industry through an Apprenticeship!

APPRENTICESHIPS FOR CAREER DEVELOPMENT

Level 4 apprenticeships offer the opportunity for Career Development. These are the equivalent of a foundation degree and offer a comprehensive training plan for people who already have some experience in their industry. You gain a recognised qualification alongside invaluable experience to really your career prospects.

Take me for example, I applied at the age of 25 after completing my Degree at University and finding that my Degree hadn’t opened up opportunities in industries that I was interested in. I undertook an Apprenticeship with Multiverse and I’m now a few months from finishing my Level 3 Course in Digital Marketing working for the largest Media Agency in the country.

An Apprenticeship is an opportunity where you can learn new skills within a structured programme, allowing you to build a strong foundation to fulfill future career goals. Age is not a defining factor in choosing what career path you want to follow.
