In the past, apprenticeships were once just for 16–24-year-olds so when you think of apprentices you are probably imagining young adults who are fresh out of school. Fortunately, the age restrictions were scrapped a few years ago and in the year 2019/2022 over 45% of apprenticeship starts were by people over the age of 24. In fact, over the last couple of years, a lower proportion of starters were under the age of 19 and a higher proportion were over the age of 19 (House of Commons).
